Serena Williams Comes With a Philanthropic Initiative for ‘Underserved’ Schools

Wearing masks these days has become really important. The pandemic has spread across the world and masks are one of the easiest things to slow down the spread of the virus. Serena Williams has also decided to help out. As the US is in grips of the virus and the schools reopen she is trying to help.

Serena is a parent and so understands the worries of other parents. As schools reopen, everyone will worry about their children. And this would affect the lower strata of society more who due to the pandemic are having financial troubles and so cannot even buy a mask. And so Serena has announced on her social media handles about her new program MaskForKids.

“I’m grateful to be able to help educate our schools about this” – Serena Williams

Serena has decided to donate 4.25 million masks to underserved schools. She will also provide educational material about masks to 54 million students so that they understand the importance of wearing masks. This material will be provided in all the 115,000 schools across the US.

“I’m teaming up with Bella canvas, the National School Board Association, and Scholastic Inc to donate 4.25 million masks to underserved schools and provide educational materials about masks to 54 million students and all 115,000 schools in the United States.” Serena wrote on Instagram

In her program, MaskForKids additional masks will also be provided at a very affordable price.

“Through the #MasksForKids program, schools can access affordable masks and educational materials, quickly. In addition to donating 4.25 million masks, another mask will be donated for each one purchased by the schools. I’m grateful to be able to help educate our schools about this resource and to be given the opportunity to serve so many students.” she further wrote
