US Open courts are resurfaced every year. But this is the first time in 42 years the tournament changed its surface brands.  Players need to adapt to this surface and that is why it has been shipped to Serena Williams which has been confirmed by Stacey Allaster, the US Open tournament director. She said,

“I can confirm the surface provided by Laykold for the 2020 US Open and Western & Southern Open was shipped to Serena’s house. She’s got a new court in her backyard so she has been training. She will be playing and she’s excited to come back.”

Every single tennis is going to be happy to hear that Serena is playing the US Open and has already started preparing. But this was something that many could have expected as she is very close to achieving one of her biggest goals – becoming the GOAT of women’s tennis.

This goal can only be achieved if Serena Williams holds one record – the record for the most Grand Slams. She currently has 23 which is just one Slam short of Margaret Court’s 24. After failing to equal this record many times, she will be looking to finally do it at the US Open.

Many fans will be hoping that she will do exactly that but sadly, they won’t be able to see it. This is because the US Open has decided not to allow fans into the arena to control the spread of the coronavirus.

This was one of the reasons why many players are not sure about playing the US Open. But since the tournament is one of the biggest in the world, we should see all of them playing. And hopefully, the 2020 US Open will still be an astounding success despite the pandemic.
