Romania’s Simona Halep crushed the seven-time Wimbledon champion, Serena Williams, under an hour during the ladies’ championship match at Wimbledon.

After Serena’s devastating loss, in the press conference, the American World Number 11 was asked about her thoughts on Billie Jean King’s comments, where King had advised Serena Williams to concentrate and prioritize tennis, over fighting for equality and focusing on celebrity fragment of her life.

Williams made a strong response and simultaneously concluded her presser. “The day I stop fighting for equality and for people that look like you and me (as the reporter was a black woman) will be the day I’m in my grave,” Serena Williams replied.

Williams is unfazed with her one-sided loss and Wimbledon Championships 2019. It was her sixth tournament of this year. “I just have to figure out a way to win a final. Maybe it is playing other finals outside of Grand Slams would be really helpful just to kind of get in the groove so by the time I get to a Grand Slam final I’m kind of used to what to do and how to play,” she said.

Right after, Serena’s reply, Billie Jean King responded to the particular matter via Twitter.

With his Wimbledon final, Serena Williams creates a record of reaching at least one major final every year for the past 13 tennis seasons and her dream of winning the 24th major title and tying with Margeret Court’s record of Grand Slams remain unfulfilled.

Since her Australian Open 2017 title win, Serena Williams hasn’t won any title and it has been the longest title-less drought of her career so far.

It’s a cloud nine moment in Halep’s career as she swept aside the greatest of all times to clinch the grandest title of tennis and also etched her name on Wimbledon’s champion board. Simona Halep committed just three unforced errors and that is the fewest count at Wimbledon finals’ history and she lived the happiest hour of her life.
