

Federer began well, attacking the second serve of Novak to earn three break points in the third game, but Novak came up with the goods and managed to hold on. His forehand looked impressive and the injury issues seemed a thing of past.
But it was Federer who was hitting more winners initially, making good use of fast paced Cincinnati court and running with his service games.
Federer again got the chance to break in the fifth game but one thing that has made the difference in this rivalry lately, is the ability to play big points better and Novak just did that, holding on again to go 3-2 up.

Tie Break was inevitable, Federer looked better of the two but just couldn’t break the serve. When Federer literally half volleyed the Novak second serve to force an error, his ‘C’mon’ was as loud as the crowd cheering for him.

Federer demolished Djokovic 7-1 in the tiebreak and deserved to go a set up.
At 15-30, second game, Novak served two double faults to hand Federer a 2-0 lead in the second set. Federer had another three chances to break at 4-1, but Novak managed to stay in the match with some great baseline hitting.
At deuce in the next game, Djokovic had a window of opportunity to break back, but with a supreme smash volley, Federer went 5-2 up, a game away from his seventh title.

And with a love hold, Federer captured the title in 90 minutes, 7-6(1) 6-3. Regaining his world number two spot on the rankings.
It was a flawless week for Roger and another well deserved title, completing his journey by hugging and kissing his kids and wife in the stands.
