As the Chinese Masters event kicks-off in the city of Shanghai, a series of upsets take place on an opening day. Beginning with the three-time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka is knocked out from Shanghai Open. The Croatian boy, Borna Coric dispatched him in three sets, 4-6 6-4 6-3. Coric failed to survive in Beijing and Shenzhen. After saving two break points at 3-3 in the second set. Moreover, the Croatian recorded his 32nd match win of the season. The Swiss, Wawrinka just returned from a knee surgery and was a wildcard entrant in Shanghai.

The Australian tennis ace, Nick Kygrios falls out of the Shanghai Open. The American qualifier Bradley Klahn battled with the Australian to clinch a 4-6 6-4 6-3 in the Opening Round. He also smacked 18 aces on Kgrios’ court. Next, Klahn will play the Croat, Coric.

The Frenchman, Gael Monfils also failed in the opening round of Shanghai Open. He lost to the Greek youngster Stefanos Tsitsipas. His journey until the quarter-finals in Tokyo last week would suffice to take him to the ATP Finals in November. “I have improved a lot since last year physically, mentally,’ said Tsitsipas. ‘My game has changed. I am more aggressive now. I’m actually stronger. I feel stronger. My body has changed since last year. I have (now played) lots of matches in the ATP main draws, lots of wins which gave me confidence. I believe in myself a little bit more.”

Furthermore, the former Wimbledon finalist, Milos Raonic has also concluded his journey on the courts of Shanghai. The Canadian, Raonic surrendered to the American qualifier, Mackenzie McDonald. He lost in three sets 6-3 5-7 6-3 to the American.

Also, the American sky-scaper, Sam Querrey slammed 14 aces to hold a 6-3 6-4 victory over the World Number 16 Diego Schwartzman. He sets up a second-round match against his compatriot Taylor Fritz, defeat beat Robin Haase 6-3 7-6(3).
