Shaun White and Nina Dobrev are the new celebrity couple that the sports world is currently gushing over. The two have been dating since February 2020 and absolutely adore each other.

However, what was the moment that White convinced Dobrev of a future with him? Shaun White reveals.

An impromptu decision and an international flight

Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have been spending a lot of time with each other. White has previously also revealed how he always visited Dobrev during her shoots whenever he found the time.

Notably, it was one of those visits that the ‘Vampire Diaries’ fame realized how serious Shaun was about them. White revealed that he once took a trip to South Africa, and it really meant a lot for Dobrev.

Nina Dobrev was actually shooting for ‘Redeeming Love’ in South Africa. Even though she wasn’t done with her shoot, she went ahead and invited White to South Africa. And to her surprise, White agreed!

“I was like, ‘All right. Yeah. OK.’ And she [thought], ‘Oh, this guy, he came to play. He’s serious.’ So that’s a thing that we share together. We both enjoy traveling.”

“That was actually how we kind of started our relationship,” revealed White. The international trip convinced Dobrev that the snowboarding legend was serious about her, and soon they became one.

White also revealed that he once tried to go to Canada to visit Dobrev during one of her shoots, but was sent back.

Both White and Dobrev share a mutual love for dogs and traveling, apart from other common interests. These interests really helped bring them together.

Whatever problems they face, they communicate with each other and try to get through them together.

“And the problems that we do face, they kind of fall away through communication. It’s just been great,” said White.

The 3-time Olympic champion also mentioned that Dobrev is a very supportive partner and is always there for him.

“She’s just been so incredibly supportive,” he added.

Moreover, White also added that Dobrev had what he called an “overwhelming kindness” and likes to help others. Such qualities are rare to find and White is glad to have found them in his partner and best friend.
