“She’s Lying”: Ajla Tomljanovic Accuses Opponent Jelena Ostapenko of Manipulation During R3 Wimbledon Championships 2021

Australian tennis player Ajla Tomljanovic was competing in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. She was up against Jelena Ostapenko and there was an incident that became a talking point of the match. The Australian player was unhappy with the allowance of the umpire giving her opponent a time out.
The moment occurred during the third set when Jelena Ostapenko took a break when she was trailing 0-4 in the final set. Ajla Tomljanovic was furious with the chair umpire and argued for allowing Jelena to take a break.
The Australian was heard telling the umpire, “You know she’s lying, right? We all know… Are you taking into consideration that she looked fine for an hour & 20 & now there’s an ‘acute injury’?” To which, Ostapenko told the umpire, “She cannot tell you what to do.”

Ajla Tomljanovic was unhappy with certain sequences
The match was slipping away from Ostapenko and the momentum was clearly with the Australian player. At 4-0, she took the break and it gave an impression that the former Grand Slam champion was trying to halt her flow. Over the years, players have been accused of taking timeouts when things aren’t going in their favor.

Speaking about the match, Ajla won the match in three sets. After losing the first set, she clawed back and won the next couple of sets. In the end, she won the match 4-6 6-4 6-2. During the match, the Australian player hit few unforced errors as compared to her opponent.
