Michael’ shroud’ Grzesiek and Tyler’ Ninja’ Blevins are two of the biggest names when it comes to game streaming platforms. Both players were initially part of the Twitch platform, but left when Microsoft Mixer came knocking on their doors.

The two then joined Mixer, direct rivals to Twitch, for jaw-dropping figures. Though this raises some serious eyebrows, yet the ultimate question still remains. Which streaming platform is better?

Shroud uploaded a video on his channel which talked about Mixer and how the Microsoft streaming platform is yet to dominate.

Shroud began of saying he has no idea what they’d do now. The plans they had initially thought of was no longer of use due to the COVID-19 crisis. Mixer’s entire plan on PR and advertising was put to waste.

“Unfortunately so, we had a lot of plans. Like me, Microsoft and Mixer. We had lots of plans to do very, very cool advertising, and then corona started to happen and we, you know, started to take precautions. And all of those opportunities and all of those things we were going to do no longer exists.”

Shroud would also give an idea of what the plan was. “The plan was to be on the e3 floor before it opens to the public and play through and record every single popular game or every game I liked. And we were going to turn it into a video or two.”

Shroud talks about Microsoft’s strategy with Mixer

Microsoft always had an eye for whatever people loved, so when they saw Twitch gaining all the attention, they jumped in with something of their own.

To add fuel to the fire, they went ahead and signed two of the biggest stars from Twitch, hoping to bring in their fans along with them. However, one thing Microsoft did not anticipate was that money couldn’t buy everything; the fans stayed with Twitch.

Shroud had something to say regarding this.

“The end goal isn’t necessarily to grab those people, while it is good to grab them. Your plan can’t be too focused on grabbing them.”

Twitch launched in 2011, whereas Mixer joined the party five years later in 2016. Talking in numbers, Mixer only saw a growth of 0.2 percent with Shroud and Ninja on their side. Five years seem like a substantial amount of time to gain a fanbase, but Shroud disagrees.

“I think what a lot of people don’t take into account when it comes to Mixers growth, is that they essentially started from nothing. Right, there’s nothing to hold a grab of to help them. Now they have to completely go back to the thing and try to figure out, you know.

“Twitch has been around for longer. Therefore, there are more people there,’ Shroud says, ‘So a lot of people don’t think of the long-con. They don’t think of the long play. They just think of the short-term play.”

Shroud believes up and comers will choose Mixer over Twitch just because Microsoft is big and capable.

“When you’re creating a streaming platform, you really just have to sit there, and f**king wait,’ he continues, ‘Like, truly, that’s what you gotta do, and Microsoft’s perfect because Microsoft’s f**king huge. They have the resources to just sit there and wait… that’s how I know Mixer has a very, very good chance to succeed.”

Regardless of how huge Microsoft is or who they sign, nothing beats loyalty. Twitch seems to be on the top of the hill and could remain the same for years to come.
