“Shut Up”: Nick Kyrgios Slams Mats Wilander For Criticizing Andy Murray After French Open 2020 Defeat

Over the last 12 months, Andy Murray has been trying to play his best tennis again. However, we didn’t see any signs of that as Stan Wawrinka knocked him out of the first round of the French Open. Mats wilander was evidently unhappy to see the Briton lose in straight sets.

I think Andy Murray needs to stop thinking of himself and start thinking about who he was. Does he have a right to be out there taking wildcards from the young players?”

Seeing this comment, Nick Kyrgios could not help but defend his good friend. He took to Twitter and wrote,

Just read what Wilander said about @andy_murray…. shut up Mats, no one cares. Muzz, just know that how ever long you stay, we all appreciate and enjoy your tennis and banter. Also I’ve never watched a point of Mats Wilander.”

Andy Murray Needs To Improve

While Murray knows his performance wasn’t the best one, he isn’t happy about Wilander’s comment.

I haven’t served like that… that’s nothing to do with my hip. Mistiming returns and serving at 38% that’s got nothing to do with that…That’s something I need to look at with my team. There’s been matches I’ve served well since I came back, that’s not a physical issue.”

One of the matches that Murray is probably referring to is from the Cincinnati Open. There, he played extremely well as he managed to beat world no. 7 Alexander Zverev. Clearly, all hope is not lost for the British star and we should see him return to the top very soon.
