Wimbledon 2019 Ladies singles champion, Simona Halep thanked Roger Federer for his advice ahead of her Wimbledon Championships 2019 finals against Serena Williams on Saturday.

The 27-year-old stunned the 23-time grand slam champion in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to grab the first Wimbledon Championships title of her career. She became the first Romanian to claim the title at the England Lawn Tennis Club.

The night before her finals, the Swiss Maestro offered advice to Simona Halep in his post-match press conference after defeating Rafael Nadal in the semifinals. After conquering her second grand slam title, Simona Halep revealed that she read his advice and wanted to thank him as she derived her inspiration from the 20-time grand slam champion.

Halep said in the post-match press conference after defeating Serena Williams, “I read what he said. I thank him. He is very nice. His words made me happy. Also, I really believe that there is a chance if I listen to him. Because if you listen to him, you get good things.”

Halep also confessed that she took his advice and tried to do those things in the match. She confessed, “So I did that. I hope it’s going to be again. It’s not the only match I played great. In my opinion, I played many great matches, even if I lost a few of them. I feel that I’m at the highest level, for sure.”

Simona Halep didn’t give chance for Willaims to breathe in the match as the American could manage to win only 4 games in one of the most one-sided grand slam finals.

He said, “But I’m feeling also that I can improve some things, not about today’s match. But this tournament, I feel like I have to improve other things. I will keep working for that. “I’m still motivated. I’m looking forward already to the next tournaments and next challenges that I have.”
