Roger Federer earned $106.3 million in the last 12 months to become the highest-paid athlete in the world. Federer became the first-ever tennis player to land the top spot since 1990. However, along with the Swiss maestro, five more tennis players landed in the 100 highest-paid athletes list by Forbes.
Tennis is a lucrative sport for those at the top with millions of dollars up for the prize money in addition to the multiple endorsements and sponsors. Moreover, the sport is also the prime outlet for the top-earning female athletes as the only 2 women who are included in the top 100 highest-paid athletes on the planet are tennis players.
