The Spanish sensation Garbine Muguruza is back in the news for her recent comments on sexism existing in tennis. In an interview to El Mundo, Muguruza made a statement that has certainly raised a couple of eyebrows.

According to the 22 year old,  the mentality of people is still stuck at skin show. ‘‘Unfortunately skirts and legs sell more than our winner shots. I am convinced that as time goes on things will get better. I wish we could come to normality, and that one day people could say about a lot of us that beyond playing well we are nice too, not the contrary.

Her comments remind us that women players are always under the scanner and are at the receiving end of salacious and lewd remarks constantly. The rules and regulations behind the outfits players wear is already a sensitive issue as it ensures that players do not compromise on their dignity.
