The Slovakian was almost in the final year of his contract with the Reds, but is now set to put pen to paper on an extended deal, which will tie him with the club for 3 more years. Martin Skrtel turned down interest from Italian side Inter Milan. Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini is believed to be a long-standing admirer of the central defender.

Skrtel revealed earlier this month that he had rejected Liverpool’s “unacceptable” initial offer, describing the terms as “the kind offered to players who are much older or who have health problems.”

The 30 year Old Defender was paid 75k per week earlier and is expected to get an increase of around 20k which will be finalised soon.
