Sloane Stephens, Gael Monfils and Others Congratulate Nick Kyrgios on His Maiden Grand Slam Title at Australian Open 2022

Australian tennis players Nick Kyrgios and Thanassi Kokkinakis created history at the Australian Open 2022. Entering the tournament on a wild card, they shocked one and all to go the distance and claim the title. 

On route to winning the Australian Open 2022 men’s doubles title, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis knocked out some of the top seeds in the game. They managed to get the formula right, and that helped them win the title.

The Tennis fraternity congratulates Nick Kyrgios and Thanassi Kokkinakis

As they tasted Grand Slam’s success for the first time, messages poured in for Kyrgios and Kokkinakis on social media. On Nick’s social media post, some of the top players like Gael Monfils and Sloane Stephens congratulated the two Australian players on the win. 

Speaking on the journey Nick and Thanassi went through, the pair faced Australian players in the opening round and ended up winning the match with ease. In the following round, they shocked one and all by knocking out top seeds, Nikola Mektic and Mata Pavic.

In the third round, they faced another stern test but managed to overcome it and win the match in three sets. Similar to the previous match, they beat the sixth seeds in three sets as well.

Things started getting really interesting as Nick and Thanassi were just two wins away from claiming their first Major title. In the semifinal, they defeated third seeds, Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers.

They were then just one hurdle away and defeated fellow Australian players Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in the finals and created history at the Australian Open 2022.

Having seen the pair Kyrgios and Kokkinakis win their first Grand Slam title, fans can expect to see the two friends compete on the Tour more often. For now, they can enjoy the moment and fans cannot wait to see them competing together once again.
