Sloane Stephens gets Engaged to a Soccer Player

Tennis star Sloane Stephens is ready to start a new chapter in her life. The American tennis player announced she is now engaged to her longtime boyfriend Jozy Altidore. Altidore is a soccer striker for the US men’s national team and Toronto FC.
The two biggest athletes in the USA started to date in 2016 and took the social media to announce their engagement on Monday after dating for nearly three years. Sloane Stephens, 26 and 29-year-old Jozy Altidore have known each other from childhood.

The couple announced their engagement with a short post on Instagram and Twitter. The news instantly grew attention and congratulations from many renowned sports personalities and organizations.

“Forever yes,” was Sloane Stephens replied.
The US Olympic committee congratulated the two Olympians on Twitter. It added on the Team USA website that their relationship began as “Childhood friends growing up in Florida.”

Sloane Stephens grew up in California but then shifted to Florida for tennis. She joined a tennis academy at a very young age. At her time in Florida, she met Jozy Altidore.
Sloane Stephens conquered the US Open title in 2017. She was also a part of the 2017 US Fed Cup team. Stephen Sloane reached the finals of the WTA finals in 2018. She also represented the USA at the Olympic games. The American tennis player is ranked at no. 8 in the world on the WTA leaderboard.

While Jozy Altidore has also represented the USA in the sport of Soccer at various stages. He has represented his country in two World Cups. He also plays in the Major Soccer league with Toronto FC. Altidore grew up in Florida. He is the 17th player in the history of Soccer to play 100 international matches after his debut in 2007. In 110 international matches, Jozy scored 41 goals for his team.
