

Riot Games released a closed beta of their new tactical shooter, Valorant, on April 7. With many of the popular streamers engrossed in the new title, it is the talk of the town. It’s pretty much all that is trending on the streaming platforms. While most are absolutely loving the game, summit1g has a contrasting take on the title.

Summit1g believes Valorant viewership will dry up
The streamer’s views did not come out of the blue. looking at his recent tweet it looks like the thought has been brewing in his mind for a couple of days.

I didn’t have a strong opinion on this before.
But 24/7 Valorant streams are wack, everyone has drops now, you are no longer doing the world justice.

“I think the only thing that can be wrong with Valorant is, I think, the abilities are going to be its undoing. If I’m being a 100% honest, I think from a viewer’s perspective, it’s very kind of slow and bland, and has some of these very stupid and boring choke-points.”
He even compared Valorant to Overwatch, saying one big moment decides and ends the game. The new game does indeed have some elements similar to Overwatch, and I must say, personally I never enjoyed it.

He elaborated further, explaining why it’s not a game that will do too well from a viewers’ point of view, in the long term.

Ever since the beta went live for Valorant, summit1g has been mostly playing it exclusively. He even had the most viewership amongst all streamers playing Valorant while the beta dropped were enabled. In fact, summit1g reached a landmark 5 million followers just last week, thanks to Valorant.

It has just been days since the game’s beta went live, hence, the novelty still remains even for the viewers. However, summit1g is one of the most experienced gamers and streamers around and he always gives followers his honest perspective.
If he foresees certain issues with the game in terms of viewership, it’s certainly something to keep an eye on.
