David Beckham turned 37 that year. Victoria Beckham took the internet by surprise after she gifted him the NBA legend, Magic Johnson’s jersey. What made it even more special was that the jersey was signed by the NBA star himself. Victoria was the first to post about the gift on social media. She posted a picture of the signed jersey on her Twitter. She wrote, “What do u get David for his birthday???? he loved it!!! X vb”.

Apart from occasionally turning up at NBA games, Beckham is proactively helping the sports universe in America. The soccer legend spent a large chunk of his career playing soccer in America. After a quiet end to his Real Madrid stint, Beckham made the move to the US. However, every soccer fan was shocked and couldn’t believe why Beckham would choose to play soccer in America.
David Beckham shocked the world when he left Real Madrid in 2007 to sign with the LA Galaxy of MLS.
He was just 31 years old and accepted a 70% pay cut.
But his contract included two unique clauses that eventually helped him earn more than $500 million.

In his first interview as an LA Galaxy player, Beckham revealed the real reason for joining the club. He told ESPN, “With me, it’s about football. I’m coming there to make a difference. I’m coming there to play football”. He continued, “I’m not saying me coming over to the States is going to make soccer the biggest sport in America. That would be difficult to achieve. But I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think I could make a difference”.

No doubt, Beckham made a massive difference to soccer in the US. After Beckham’s arrival, the MLS got much more recognition than usual. Fans from all over the world suddenly wanted to watch the MLS. The soccer legend also extended his fanbase to America, during that time.
However, that wasn’t it. A year after retiring, Beckham returned to the US. The soccer legend purchased Inter Miami CF for $25 million and the rest is history.
