The transfer window may have closed worldwide, but the future of Kylian Mbappe remains a constant topic of discussion. Despite persistent rumors linking him with a departure from PSG, the Frenchman chose to remain with the Parisians. While there is anticipation of seeing him don a different team’s jersey next summer, his potential next destination has now come to light.

Despite PSG’s firm stance on retaining their star player, Real Madrid and two other prominent clubs are poised to vie for his signature. Among these clubs is a Premier League side that may attempt to secure Mbappe’s services.

Mbappe’s current contract with PSG is set to expire next summer, which means the player will have the freedom to make a move without the burden of a transfer fee. So far, Real Madrid has been touted as the frontrunner for his signature. While Madrid may come back for him next year after missing out on him this summer, they might receive tough competition from other European powerhouses.

In an exclusive interview with Casinos En Ligne, Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf gave his views on Mbappe’s next destination. The French World Cup winner was asked if any club were to entice Mbappe next summer aside from Real Madrid. He replied, “Manchester City or Bayern Munich could potentially move for Mbappe, but I think those two clubs already have great players. I think Liverpool could be an option, but I’m not sure Mbappe will want to live there! That’s all due respect to the Scousers!”

Leboeuf believes Liverpool could also be an option. However, the former player reckons he may reject the Reds. Undoubtedly, this would be a blow to Liverpool if they were to pursue his signature. Earlier, Mbappe was linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

On the other hand, it’s Madrid who are front runners to sign Mbappe. Additionally, Los Blancos could have signed him this summer, but the player received a harsh ‘no.’ What’s the story behind this? Let’s delve deeper.

Why did Real Madrid say ‘no’ to Mbappe this summer?

During the earlier part of the summer, Mbappe declined to renew his contract with PSG. This kept the Parisians in a precarious position. While PSG tried to offload the player, their massive demands put off all European clubs. It also acted as a major roadblock for Madrid, who would have needed to shell out $432 million to get the striker this summer.

However, given that the 24-year-old is entering the last year of his contract, the La Liga club deemed it wiser to secure the promising talent from Paris without incurring any expenses. Acquiring players on a free transfer remains a substantially more cost-effective option compared to spending lavishly on steep transfer fees. Be that as it may, what happens in the next transfer window remains to be seen,
