King Charles of the UK also once graced the stadium with his presence. But why did his majesty come?

The second season of the club’s infamous docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham, is out. The first three episodes of the show are out, and fans are loving every second of them. Subsequently, the release of the documentary led ‘This Morning’ show to summon Wrexham’s executive director, Humphrey Ker.

On the chit-chat show, hosts asked Ker about the release of the new documentary. Interestingly, a question was raised by one of the hosts, who asked why the King and Queen of the UK came to Wrexham. Ker, as always, had his answer: “They came actually to bestow City status on what was the town. We’re now a city as of their visit. But, I think before we took over, before what happened at the football club, we wouldn’t necessarily have been a stop on a big kind of Civic visit like that.”

great, I mean, it’s a sign of kind of the direction of travel for the club and the town or the city as we are now. So it was it was exciting to have them,” he concluded.

Certainly, the reason for the presence of the King and Queen has been revealed. Both his and her majesty were in town to scrutinize the city as well as the stadium. Speaking of the Racecourse Ground, Reynolds had to endure a $25 million blow due to the Dragons’ stadium.

Why did Ryan Reynolds suffer a $25 million setback?

In order to renovate the stands at the Racecourse Ground, the Red Dragons wanted to get approval for funding from the UK government. Their plan suggested financing of $25 million. However, the government rejected their plan. Because of the delay, the owners had to step in and fund the stadium revamp by raising capital from their own pockets.

As narrated by Reynolds in Welcome to Wrexham S02E01, he said, “The delays in funding put us at risk of falling behind schedule. So we needed to have the new Kop built for the 2024–25 season. So we decided to pay for the demolition of the old Kop ourselves and began tearing it down.” Notably, the 10,500-seat stadium will upgrade to an additional 5,500 seats. Initially, allocated funds were slowed down due to political factors. However, eventually, they secured $31.5 million to construct the new stadium stand.
