Wrexham is experiencing one of the best seasons in the club’s history right now. The club is currently at the top of the table and is looking like the favorite to make it to the next division. The owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, took over the club in 2021 and have molded it into one of the best sides in the fifth division of the English Football League since then.

The Welsh club struggled a lot in the past, but the arrival of the new owners has helped them significantly. The Red Dragons continued their winning ways after clinching another narrow win against Southend United at the Racecourse Ground. Southend was, of course, a tough nut to crack, as they didn’t let Phil Parkinson’s men score. However, the Shrimpers were unlucky as a brilliant cross from skipper Ben Tozer resulted in an own goal from the opposition keeper, Steve Arnold.

Twitter erupts after decision over controversial goal

It was an unfortunate evening for Southend goalkeeper Steve Arnold, who scored an own goal against their rivals. The goalkeeper, while trying to catch the cross by jumping high, palmed the ball into his own net due to a slight push from Paul Mullin.

Many Southend players asked the referee to deny the goal, but the official somehow awarded the decision in Wrexham’s favor. While the leaders are enjoying the win, netizens around the world are lashing out at the referee’s decision.

Wrexham inching ever closer to promotion

With this narrow win against Southend United, Wrexham has moved closer to promotion. The Red Dragons are four points ahead of their fierce rivals, Notts County. Now, they are eyeing a promotion to the fourth division.

Phil Parkinson’s team is now preparing for their upcoming fixture against Bromley. They will travel to Hayes Lane next week in the hope of clinching all three points, and extend their lead even more.

While Wrexham will be going into the match with confidence gained from their previous triumph, Bromley are stuttering. The Ravens lost 0-3 against York City in their last game at Hayes Lane. Moreover, a red card for Reice Charles-Cook has made things even worse.

Nevertheless, they’ll be looking to take points off a high-flying Wrexham.
