Yesterday marked the 37th birthday of Luis Suarez. Aside from his family and friends, the Uruguayan international celebrated his special day with his new Inter Miami teammates for the very first time. Amidst the joyous occasion, a playful incident prompted the Uruguayan to not just ask a side-splitting question to his best pal Lionel Messi, but also call him ‘stupid‘. As Luis Suarez marked his attendance at the DRV PNK training center, he was greeted with more than just the regular birthday wishes. The former Barcelona man was asked to go through the ‘birthday tunnel’, similar yet amusingly different from the ‘guard of honor’.

His teammates line up in two rows facing each other, forming a path for the birthday boy to run through while getting wittingly hit on the back. In the viral clip, as Luis Suarez received a friendly slamming from his teammates, standing at the end of the tunnel was Lionel Messi, who unexpectedly had a swing as well! This led El Pistolero to smilingly question Messi, asking, “Desde cuando pegas vos en los pasillos, bobo?” which translates to Since when do you hit the punches, stupid?“. The Argentine, as always, chuckled at the response, while everyone else giggled. Indeed, this was quite an amusing moment. However, this surely wasn’t their first friendly jibe at each other!

Before the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Ecuador, Lionel Messi posted a picture on Instagram of himself. Interestingly, Suarez took a jab at his best friend by making a hilarious comment, saying, What a tired face daddy. Get up, fatty. Wish you the best.” Banter surely seems to be one of the pillars of both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez’s special relationship. Either way, it’s a treat for soccer fans as well.
