Cristiano Ronaldo has started his Al Nassr career with a victory and a defeat in the first two games. The former Manchester United star is yet to score for his new club. His life in Al Nassr jersey hasn’t gone well so far after scoring a brace against PSG in the friendly last week. Now, his miss in the first half proved costly for his side, who were knocked out of the Saudi Super Cup.

Ronaldo is yet to settle in his new team after a record-breaking move to the Saudi Arabian club. The transfer has made the Portuguese the highest-earning athlete in the world. It is a fresh experience for the former Real Madrid superstar. He is playing for the first time outside of European soccer and will take time to settle in.

Rudi Garcia feels the superstar’s miss affected Al Nassr in the Super Cup defeat

Al Nassr took on Al-Ittihad in the semifinal of the Saudi Super Cup for a place in the final on Thursday. Romarinho gave Al-Ittihad the lead in 15th minute. Ronaldo had a great chance to equalize for Al Nassr in the first half. But his point-blank header was directed straight at the goalkeeper. It was a big miss for the superstar from such a distance.

Al Nassr, who currently sits at the top of the Saudi Pro League, manager Rudi Garcia feels the miss by the Portuguese was the turning point. The French tactician said“One of the things that changed the course of the match was Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed opportunity in the first half.” He felt had Ronaldo taken the opportunity, the result would have been different.

Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad took their opportunities. Abderrazak Hamdallah (43′) and Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti (90+3′) made sure Al-Ittihad makes it to the final. Talisca pulled one back for Al Nassr in the 67th minute and gave them hope, but to no effect. It was a disappointing game for Ronaldo, who was subject to Messi chants after the game. He will now focus on Friday’s game in Saudi League.
