While Wrexham mesmerized its hardcore fanbase in America, talismanic striker Paul Mullin’s action was missed, yet again. If a rib-breaking injury spoiled Mullin’s American tour last year, a post-surgery rehab forced him out this year. Well, even at the cost of the pre-season tour, it was great of the 29-year-old to opt for surgery to fix his chronic spinal injury. As Mullin reveals, surgery was the last resort for him. It was when his body gave up that the former Liverpool player chose to operate his back.

Paul Mullin, notably, ignored his spinal injury for a large part of the 2023-24 campaign, where he scored 26 goals in 43 games. But that run made him realize he couldn’t snub surgery forever:

He also detailed taking medicines that he detested to recover from the malady. “I don’t like taking painkillers but I had to. Paul Mullin “feels so much better,” while EFL League One closes in

Mullin, anyhow pointed out that he has been inactive for 16 weeks and hence won’t pressure himself to return quickly. The club, on the other hand, secured a second consecutive promotion and made it to the EFL League One. So, this time again, he expects his teammates to prepare the best ground for him to return. Mullin was at the Red Dragons’ home ground when they defeated Fleetwood 1-0 on Friday. Before that Wrexham shined in the US, drawing only to Chelsea and beating Bournemouth and Vancouver. If the Dragons can fare so well without Mullin, they can surely kick-start League One in style and prepare the stage for the ace striker.
