It’s the January transfer window and a time of consolidation for Al Nassr. Cristiano Ronaldo and his team are undoubtedly lethal on the offensive front with 46 goals. However, the club is now looking for a defensive upgrade as they’ve managed to keep only three clean sheets this season. Reportedly, Al Nassr is in talks with English club Leicester City for one of its star defenders, as Seko Fofana prepares to exit the club.

The 2023–24 season is filled with a lot of ambitions for the team in yellow. With Cristiano Ronaldo, the club is aiming for the Saudi Pro League title as well as the AFC Champions League. After poaching players like Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte, it now looks to bridge that vital gap with Al Hilal.

Al Nassr, even though placed second in the Saudi Pro League, is not taking anything casually. As the defense of the club looks to be a bit shaky, conceding 23 goals the club is reportedly in talks to sign defender Harry Souttar. As revealed by Rudi Galetti, Al Nassr is looking to get the player in January itself and will free up a foreign slot as they let Seko Fofana leave on loan. Al Nassr has likely found Souttar to be more ideal, as the center-back is known for his strong headers which ramp up his goalscoring prowess apart from defending.

The Australian has not been getting enough of the game time he’d like in the EFL Championship, which could favor Al Nassr. Soutter played just three games this season after Leicester was relegated from the Premier League. However, this doesn’t do justice to the player’s potential. The 1.98-meter towering defender has been a vital part of Australia’s international set-up, scoring 10 goals in just 21 games. That’s quite astonishing for a defender. The 25-year-old will play a key role in the AFC Asian Cup, while talks about him will take place at the club level.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. had a bitter pill to swallow last season as they bottled the Saudi Pro League to Al Ittihad. The club held the No. 1 spot until March last year when they lost out to the same team 1-0. However, the Riyadh-based club is now looking much more dominant on the pitch as they continue to hunt stronger squad options.

Fofana, on the other end, has had an average tournament this season, scoring none in 14 games. By providing only one assist, the player is expected to make way for Al Shabab’s Moteb Al-Harbi. Al-Harbi will add to the backline with his experience of over 90 games. Other names the club has club popularly linked with are Kevin De Bruyne, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, and a lot many more. However, getting deals like those across the line will take some time.
