Real Madrid played Manchester City in much awaited UEFA Champions League first leg of the semifinal. It attracted many soccer fans worldwide. The heavyweight clash attracted former Real Madrid superstar David Beckham, who snubbed an important game for his son to witness Los Blancos.

Madrid and Man City put in a brilliant display in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. The game resulted in a 1-1 draw, with everything to play for in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium. David Beckham can’t stop himself from visiting Spain to witness the crucial game.

David Beckham snubs title-winning game of his son for Real Madrid

Romeo Beckham has been playing for the B-team of the English side Brentford. He is on loan from Inter Miami for the last five months. Brentford U-21 beat Blackburn U-21 in the Premier League Cup final on Tuesday night. Romeo was the unused sub in the game but managed to win the first trophy of his professional career. Meanwhile, his dad and brother Cruz had other plans.

David Beckham and Cruz Beckham were spotted at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, the same day Romeo won the trophy. Romeo started his soccer journey with Arsenal in 2014. However, he was released after the 2014-15 season, with Romeo opting to play tennis. However, after five years, he again wanted to reignite his soccer journey and joined Inter Miami II, which plays in the USL League One.

It is a reserve side of the MLS franchise owned by his dad, David Beckham. He is on a six-month loan with the reserve side of Brentford. Many thought it was a publicity stunt by the English club. However, the club manager and director insisted it wasn’t any PR stunt. They signed Romeo purely for soccer reasons. Whether Romeo has a significant career in soccer remains to be seen.

The reigning champions welcomed high-flying Manchester City to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of the Champions League semifinal. City has been in a significant form recently. They overturned the lead at the top to grab the top position from Arsenal. The game between the two heavyweights didn’t disappoint.

The two sublime finishes from Vinicius Jr. and Kevin De Bruyne resulted in both the club sharing the spoils. It was an end-to-end game. City will look to have their revenge from last year when Madrid knocked them out from the same stage the previous season. It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid plays in the second leg away from home against in-form City. They will hope to keep Erling Haaland silent again to have a chance to go through to the final.
