There has only been a snowball’s chance in hell for Al Nassr to get ahead of Al Hilal in the coveted Riyadh Derby. But tonight’s game seems to have fallen on Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.’s court. And Ronaldo was at the center of the lead-gaining moment. In the 40th minute, Al Nassr’s Abdulrahman Ghareeb provided the ball on a platter for Ronaldo. It would rather be disastrous and surprising if CR7 missed that sweet spot. Yet, the goal meant the world to the Al Nassr skipper and his teammates. Though Al Nassr would later lose the lead against Al Hilal in the 63rd minute, the 39-year-old brushed with Al Hilal fans in the stands with certain gestures.

The 5x-Ballon d’Or has lately been habitual to encountering Al Hilal fans directly from the pitch. When they boo, he responds with certain gestures. What if they are chanting Ronaldo’s arch-nemesis Lionel Messi’s name while booing? Then, Ronaldo goes with no filter. The Prince Sultan Bin Aziz Stadium in Abha witnessed Cristiano Ronaldo taunting Al Hilal fans again. After scoring his goal, Ronaldo was seen looking at the crowd and constantly pumping his hands near his ear. He might have meant the boos weren’t loud enough to stop him.

Thereafter, the 39-year-old was also seen constantly punching his left palm with his right hand. Perhaps, the Al Nassr captain has warned fans to be wary, as he just drove in what he wished to be the first nail in Al Hilal’s coffin. But it turned out to be an invitation for Al Hilal to drive back-to-back goals into Al Nassr’s net.

Cristiano Ronaldo is yet again on the doorstep of losing against Al Hilal

If the Saudi Super Cup finale’s first half belonged to Al Nassr, their domestic rivals started to assert their authority in the second. It even looked like Al Hilal’s parade over Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates. The defending champions broke Al Nassr’s deadlock in the 54th minute via Sergei Milinkovic Savic. Then, the ever-deadly Al Hilal striker royally spoiled Ronaldo’s party by scoring twice in six minutes. Then, it was Brazil star Malcom’s turn to taunt their domestic rivals. Malcom’s 72nd-minute strike came as the last nail in Al Nassr’s coffin.

Yet again, Al Nassr and Ronaldo terribly failed to stand their ground against the mighty Al Hilal. Despite facing the Blue Waves last season on all possible stages, Ronaldo and Co. could not win even once in the Saudi League, the AFC Champions League, the Riyadh Season Cup, the Saudi Super Cup, and the King Cup of Champions. Fresh off the King Cup of Champions triumph, Al Hilal routinely uproots Al Nassr and clinches the Super Cup title. So, Ronaldo’s quest for the first major Saudi silverware continues. So does his abysmal quest to win against Al Hilal.

Ronaldo's response to Messi chants—Is this the ultimate show of confidence or just arrogance?

Have an interesting take?

Besides, Ronaldo would now walk back home with the infamy of taunting Al Hilal fans in a losing game. That too, after being provoked by Messi chants. Indeed, a forgetful day for the 5x UEFA Champions League winner.
