For a long time, EA Sports and soccer’s governing body, FIFA, were intertwined in a partnership bringing the world the best soccer video game experience. Gamers from all corners of the world had grown accustomed to playing the world’s biggest soccer video game, EA Sports FIFA. However, thirty long years later, the partnership between the two entities has finally come to an end.

After nearly three decades of working together, EA and FIFA decided to part ways in May 2022. This came after FIFA refused to lock up all of its gaming rights with EA Sports. That decision has finally started to bear fruit as EA has announced its first soccer game post the FIFA split – EA Sports FC.

Commencing this Thursday, EA Sports has started to promote EA Sports FC. EA has been, for long, trying to trademark this name. The game will feature several big domestic leagues in Europe, South America, and North America. In addition to this as a result of a group license with FIFPRO, the game will include 19,000 real-life soccer stars.

EA has also mentioned that much more detailed information about the game will be revealed in July. The game is expected to traditionally launch in the fall, but EA has already released the logo. EA has made sure to reassure its fans about their switch. “We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together and continuing to take it into a fan-first future,” said Nick Wlodyka, the series’ general manager.

The FIFA video game franchise, released under the EA Sports label, has been immensely popular for decades. Their most recent title was FIFA 23 which sold 10.3 million copies within the first week. After thirty years of a successful partnership between FIFA and EA Sports, the fans are now excited to experience the highly-anticipated successor to the iconic series.
