Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC has been in a pursuit to bring in new talent ever since they earned their first trip to the EFL League Two in 15 years. However, their quest for a summer signing was met with adversities. Although Wrexham had interest to sign former Manchester United player Nick Powell, he landed in Stockport County. The Ryan Reynolds-owned soccer club then pursued Luke Leahy, only to see him take his talents to Wycombe AFC. Turns out, Wrexham has now seen a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, Ryan Reynolds’ side has managed to land their first summer signing after a long wait. What more? The first summer signing might prove good for the Welsh team. Well, a former Premier League manager who led teams like Sheffield United and Crystal Palace thinks so too.

Wrexham AFC’s earlier targets, Nick Powell and Luke Leahy, are known for their prowess in the midfield and the offensive end. However, Wrexham now seems to be determined to revamp their squad starting from the defensive end. Hours back, the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned team welcomed Huddersfield Town center back Will Boyle as their first summer signing.

For the 27-year-old defender, joining Wrexham means dropping to League Two from EFL Championship. Nonetheless, Will Boyle’s former boss from the Huddersfield camp, Neil Warnock says Boyle will be well off at the Welsh side. “Will is a fantastic boy and has been fantastic around the building. “Wanting to increase his playing time, Boyle has a fantastic opportunity with Wrexham and I wish him all the best with his new side,” said Warnock.

Thinking on the same lines as his former coach, Will Boyle too is happy to be a part of Ryan Reynolds’ soccer project. Furthermore, Wrexham’s manager is also eager to have the 27-year-old center back ahead of their trip to the United States.

Happy to have Will Boyle ahead of the American tour

Shortly after signing for Wrexham AFC, Will Boyle sounded off his excitement to join the squad. Even though it is a step down for the former EFL Championship player, he believes that Wrexham is determined to chase one promotion after the other. “It’s exciting to be a part of. As soon as I knew there would be an opportunity to join, it excited me. It’s a club that is only going in one direction,” said Will Boyle.

For Wrexham’s boss Phil Markinson, Boyle’s signing is a sigh of relief. As Boyle has had a taste of the EFL Championship, the experience he brings to the table can work wonders for The Red Dragons. Markinson also remarked that a new signing ahead of the team’s American tour has given the side some breathing space.
