Both families were in the limelight after the former England international and his wife decided to cut ties with the Duke and Duchess. Interestingly, as of today, the former pals are set to attend an international event for which Beckham was the ambassador.

Previously, there were reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had alleged that the Beckhams were responsible for disclosing confidential details. Certainly, these allegations didn’t go over smoothly with the renowned soccer star. It’s said that this disagreement resulted in a heated telephone conversation between the two families. Ultimately, that marked the end of their friendship.

Duke and Duchess of Sussex scheduled to grace international event

The Invictus Games is an international sporting event that holds a unique place in the world of competitive sports. Founded by Prince Harry, this year’s event will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany. In fact, according to the couple’s spokesperson, both Markle and Harry will be gracing the event with their presence.

While speaking to People, their spokesperson said, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to attend the Invictus Games 2023 in Düsseldorf. The Duke will be in attendance throughout the entirety of the games and will be joined by the Duchess shortly after the games begin.” Notably, the event will begin on September 9 and run through September 16.

The upcoming Invictus Games will mark the event’s sixth edition, succeeding the 2022 games that took place in The Hague. Remarkably, ahead of the commencement of the games, Prince Harry is scheduled to participate in the WellChild Awards in the United Kingdom on September 7th.

Indeed, this highly anticipated event highlights the couple’s joint dedication to exhibiting their support towards the veterans. Interestingly, five years ago, their ex-friend Beckham was the event’s ambassador.

The 2018 Invictus Games that were held in Sydney, Australia saw David Beckham as the ambassador of the event. The Golden Balls was accompanied by his sons Romeo and Cruz. The Becks boys displayed their enthusiasm for the Invictus Games as they interacted with participants and their families at Invictus Games House.

They also had the honor of awarding medals at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre. However, now it’s unlikely that he will be taking part in the event, given he cut ties with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Nevertheless, the audience and participants would be thrilled to have the Duke and Duchess at this year’s event.
