Antoine Griezmann seems to be effortlessly strolling down Easy Street. The Frenchman continues to showcase his phenomenal form with Atletico Madrid. While he is basking in a season of glory, the rumor mill has linked him with a move to the MLS side Houston Dynamo. However, his ex-teammate Hector Herrera has brushed off the gossip, insisting that Griezmann is not just contending for the Ballon d’Or, but ‘he’ll be among the best players in the world‘.

Aside from the veteran midfielder role, Herrera was simultaneously taking recruitment suggestions for Houston Dynamo. The latest press conference saw a reporter ask him if he had reached out to his club’s front office to suggest signing Antoine Griezmann. Interestingly, he replied, “I think it’s practically impossible. He’s just become Atlético de Madrid’s all-time top scorer. He’ll surely contend for the Ballon d’Or, he’ll be among the best players in the world“. But, the 33-year-old further claimed that this wasn’t the end of the road, as Griezmann loves the MLS!

“I don’t think that’s gonna change. The MLS, which I know he loves, he’d love to be able to play here, ’cause when I signed, he told me so. I have no doubt that in a few years, he’ll come, but there are other options that might come in handy,” added Dynamo’s #16. In conclusion, he asked the press to pass along other suggestions that he can urge the Orange Crush to sign, insisting his side is ‘gonna do well for sure‘.

This might have broken the hearts of all the Houston fans, who were excited to hear about the potential arrival of Griezmann. But anything can happen in soccer. For now, he seems more than focused on giving his best at Atletico.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
