Cristiano Ronaldo has signed the biggest deal to date in soccer. He will be joining the Saudi Arabian club on a $214 million per year, making him the highest-paid athlete. The contract is such enormous that fans were certain to draw comparisons. 

With all details emerging, fans have reacted in their way on social media over the contract. They have dragged other superstars like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe while comparing their salaries.

Fans drew comparisons between the salaries of Cristiano Ronaldo and other soccer stars

Fans are amazed at Ronaldo getting such astonishing sums at the twilight of his career, and that too in Saudi Arabia. It’s evident that Ronaldo tops the list of salaries for soccer stars, but what makes the comparison interesting is the total amount of wages the latter four players on the list get.

A fan replying to the tweet stating the list of the top five highest earners wrote“Is Ronaldo going to join the LIV golf tour too?” Others were quick to point out that Ronaldo alone earns $42 million more than the latter four (Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Andres Iniesta) combined.

Cristiano Ronaldo is already in Riyadh after signing the deal with Al Nassr for his presentation and starting a new chapter in Asian soccer. He was subject to a tremendous reception on arriving. The contract keeps Ronaldo tied to Saudi Arabia until 2030.

The details of the Portuguese contract

As a soccer player, his deal is up to 2025, earning him $214 per year. Interestingly, reports from the Spanish publication Marca say that his agent Jorge Mendes wasn’t part of the negotiations and won’t receive the commission from the deal. The commission is said to be around $30 million.

Ronaldo signed as a soccer player until 30th June 2025. The amount of $214 million comes with a salary and various commercial endorsements. It is believed that designing the deal with varied commercials has delayed the signing, as the agreement was already in place. As stated earlier, the deal goes beyond the sporting aspect.
