However, he also revealed that USMNT will get the chance to participate in South America’s Copa America.

Will the USMNT play in Copa America?

The American soccer star spilled a few facts while talking to NBC during the pre-match show for Leeds United against Manchester City. Adams was called as an analyst on the show. Due to his suspension, he was unable to play against Manchester City.

Adams said, “We missed out on the opportunity to maximize our time together. And now leading into this World Cup we have some big tournaments. We have the nations league, we gonna have the opportunity to play in Copa America which is gonna be huge for us”.

The USMNT captain also mentioned how important it is for the squad to be fully fit before any campaign. Adams was asked about how he thinks the USMNT could go deeper into their next competition. He mentioned, “If you can have your guys healthy in tournaments like that you gain experience and hopefully some more young guys are coming through the pipeline right now”.

From the looks of it, Adams seemed very confident about the upcoming matches in 2023. The sad exit from the 2022 World Cup didn’t seem like something holding his confidence back.

What next for Team USA?

The USMNT had quite a good World Cup campaign. Before the World Cup, Christian Pulisic publicly said that he thought America could win the World Cup. However, nobody really gave that statement too much weight because the USMNT was placed in a tricky group itself.

While they started off the World Cup well, the USMNT always seemed like a bright team but never ended up scoring too many goals. Adams revealed that they took too long to finalize their strongest starting XI. This was also due to the fact that there were quite a few injuries in the U.S. camp.

The USMNT has a very busy schedule for 2023. They will start off by facing Grenada in March, in the CONCACAF Nations League.

It will be a great opportunity for the USMNT if Adams is right about their participation in the upcoming Copa America. The USMNT will get to play sides like Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, and many more. This competition will act as a good stepping stone to the next World Cup, while the USMNT tries to find its strongest XI.
