Wrexham has to be feeling the jitters with promotion almost in their grasp. The Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned side could make history this season if they win 2 of their last 3 fixtures. However, the side has been hit with a massive setback right when it matters, with crucial defender Jacob Mendy picking up an injury, ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.
The Gambian international pulled his hamstring during the team’s 2-1 win over Colchester. Mendy was also absent from the squad for the team’s 4-1 triumph over Crawley Town and is expected to miss the remaining games in the season. Following an injury, the Wrexham star expressed his disappointment and posted a heartfelt message on social media.
Mendy addressed Wrexham supporters on his X account, with the player stating, “Gutted to not be able to help on the last push. Injuries are part of the journey and it’s time for me to experience this side of the game. I’ll be back stronger 💪🏿❤️”.

Three games are all it takes to decide the club’s fate at the end of the season. The Welsh Dragons are currently second in the standings with 79 points from 43 games. Third-placed Mansfield is just 3 points behind Wrexham, and with a one-game advantage at their hands, the side is likely to push the club out of the second spot. Notably, it gives Wrexham no chance for a slip-up, as the side needs to ensure that they bag at least six points to keep their promotion hopes alive.

However, with injuries derailing the team’s momentum, it will be intriguing to see if the team can keep their feet on the ground and see this through to earn consecutive promotions.
