Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham faced a heavy defeat against Stockport Count in the League Two. The Welsh club’s streak of 4 wins in all competitions came to a crashing end as Stockport struck 5 goals past Mark Howard. Phil Parkinson‘s side is now again dealing with injury problems, leaving them short-handed for strikers. The striker situation had just resolved as Paul Mullins made a return from injury. Now their second primary striker seems to be in a complicated situation, as per Phil Parkinson.

Phil Parkinson can’t catch a breath, as he has to focus on his tactics yet again. The Welsh club currently sits 7th in the table and will face Crewe Alexandra next in League Two. Crewe sits just above Wrexham in the 6th position with 16 points. It will be a tough tie for the Red Dragons.

A niggling knee problem is causing problems for English striker, Ollie Palmer. Palmer was benched in Wrexham’s last game against Stockport County. Phil Parkinson didn’t want Palmer to exhaust himself to save him from a major injury. The gaffer’s recent comments shed light on the severity and complex nature of the injury.

In an interview with the Leader, the Wrexham boss gave an update on Palmer’s injury as he said, “Ollie did some running on Monday to keep him active and he has had an injection in his knee. He will rest up and we will look to get him back in training on Thursday.”

Parkinson then further explains the problem Palmer’s facing as he says, “Ollie twisted it awkwardly against Grimsby and he managed it a little bit during the week. We didn’t want to risk him too much against Stockport but had him on the bench if needed. Hopefully this injection will help him with the issue he has.”

The positive side to be noted is Palmer is not majorly injured and given proper rest, he will bounce back. The return of Paul Mullin has decreased the pressure on other players, but most importantly for Phil Parkinson. Steven Fletcher is another striker Wrexham can utilize with Mullin upfront.
