While the Leagues have resumed after the soccer World Cup, the transfer window has blown open many opportunities for the clubs to make changes in their roasters and management. They presented one such opportunity to AS Roma when they decided to make changes to their official kit. According to the reports, AS Roma had made a deal with Adidas. Adidas had already sent out retailers’ info for the season 2023/24, and they included the Italian club AS Roma in this. This had made a rift between them and the former supplier.

According to the reports New Balance had a set deal with AS Roma which they supplied last year and would have a chance to get the contract extended. However, after the new deal, New Balance is looking for legal options to deal with the situation.

New Balance sued the Italian soccer club

According to reports by Sports Promedia, the New Balance deal with AS Roma was signed in 2021. They reported it to be worth 3-4 million USD per season. However, since AS Roma has now shaken hands with Adidas, New Balance has sued the club on the grounds of ignoring the right of first refusal.

According to CalcioFinaza, the former supplier had a clause in their contract with AS Roma, which gave them the chance to match any rival offer and keep the deal. According to the case filed at the International Chamber of Commerce. The firm argued that New Balance would have matched the offer from Adidas and would have gotten the deal.
