The world is enjoying the hype of the Oscars 2023. La Liga leaders, FC Barcelona, seem to be caught up in that hype too. The La Liga behemoths are facing hardship financially while simultaneously getting investigated for financial wrongdoing. Despite the difficulties off the pitch, the social media team of the club took to Instagram to post posters of some renowned movies with a Barcelona touch to them. Movies like La La Land, Lucy, and Matrix were altered to fit Barcelona players and their current head coach, Xavi Hernandez.

About a week ago, reports came out that the $5 billion worth club paid around 1.4 million USD to the vice president of the Spanish football referees’ committee. According to the latest updates, Spain’s public prosecutor will proceed with a case against the club. Although there is a statement from the club denying any wrongdoings, fans of the club will have a hard time waiting for definitive answers.

Barcelona’s statement concerning the allegations!

Barcelona is in some serious trouble. Their finances are crumbling and the Spanish Prosecutor has lodged a case against them. Although they said they will fight in their statement, it will still affect the overall image of the club. In their statement, they said, “FC Barcelona hired in the past the services of an external technical consultant, who supplied, in video format, technical reports referring to players in lower categories of the Spanish State for the Club’s technical secretariat.

Additionally, the relationship with the same external supplier was extended with technical reports related to professional refereeing in order to complement information required by the coaching staff of the first team and the subsidiary, a common practice in professional football clubs.

How will this saga end? Only time will tell.
