Is Messi's magic enough to secure the Supporters' Shield for Inter Miami this season?

Just 3 more matches. Ideally, one match! Yes, Inter Miami is ready to enter the pantheon of MLS legends following their existence in 2018. The journey to the top would be sensational for the club. David Beckham’s franchise scored a million bucks after signing Lionel Messi two years back. Therefore, with Luis Suarez and other top players at the club, they are ready to win their first Supporters’ Shield.

So lend me your ears as we give the possible scenarios for the team to win the title. The grand prize in the MLS is up for grabs among three teams – Inter Miami, Columbus, and Cincinnati. So let’s explore the possibilities for each team.

The team can win the MLS title in this game week. They play Columbus in a title-defining clash at the Lower.com Field. If Miami wins the game, they get 3 points and clinch the Supporters’ Shied. If Columbus wins the match, the title challenge still goes on for Inter Miami as they close the gap to 5 points. Moreover, Lionel Messi and Co won’t be able to win the title if it goes for a draw, as the gap remains 8. But there is a catch, Columbus has a game in hand and if Inter Miami loses two matches in a row, Columbus could sneak in.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami’s other rivals for the title are Cincinnati, who stays in 3rd place with 56 points. They can win the title if Inter Miami loses all their matches and if Columbus fails to win some of their matches. Hence, it is a topsy-turvy affair at the top of the table. If Inter Miami loses their game against Columbus, they need to win their remaining two games and would need Columbus to drop points.
