Juventus has finally won the race for Tiago Djalo. The Portuguese defender is the Old Lady’s first signing of the winter transfer window. In the middle of the fanfare surrounding the youngster’s arrival, Djalo has vehemently denied chatter that Cristiano Ronaldo had any influence over his decision to join Juventus, insisting he ‘didn’t speak‘ to CR7 at all.

Being a fellow Portuguese subtly implied that the 23-year-old might have discussed his move with his country’s legend. However, the first task that Djalo did was to clear the air regarding these claims. Speaking in a press conference and as stated by Gazzetta dello Sport, he succinctly stated, I didn’t speak to him, as soon as I heard that Juve wanted me, that was the important thing for me. I didn’t need his opinion, I’m happy to have signed with Juventus.” Juventus paid €3.6 million or $4 million to LOSC Lille, with €1.5 million or $1.6 million adding up as bonuses.

Additionally, if Massimiliano Allegri and Co. achieve certain seasonal milestones, they will be obligated to pay a bonus of €2.6 million or $2.8 million to the Ligue 1 side. Having signed until 2026, with an option to extend until 2028, the young defender will take home a wage of €2.5 million or $2.7 million per season. Kickstarting his career at Damaiense Fo., Djalo rose through the ranks of Sporting CP and joined Milan U19 in January 2019. The player impressed Lille in just 6 months and made the move. He is now injured and might see a delay in his debut.

Nevertheless, these were some bold claims from him. Unlike Djalo, who chose not to seek counsel from Cristiano Ronaldo, an ex-Juve star has been diligently heeding CR7’s guidance.

An ex-Juventus star took ‘loads of tips’ from Cristiano Ronaldo

In a recent interview, Leicester City’s striker Stephy Mavididi heaped praise on CR7, having trained with the 5X Ballon d’Or winner at Juventus. He said, “Having him [Cristiano Ronaldo] there was really good. I tried to be a sponge and try and take loads of tips from him and try and add them not just to my game, but daily life.” However, a few renowned individuals disagree!

Juventus ex-CEO Giuseppe Marotta took a jibe at the Portuguese talisman, claiming the Old Lady’s investment in Ronaldo did not bring ‘expected results,’ adding that CR7’s contribution didn’t live up to ‘great expectations.’ Clearly, both Mavididi and Marotta are poles apart in their judgment. One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
