The soccer fraternity can’t get over Wednesday’s encounter between Argentina and Brazil. Lionel Messi and Co. managed to clinch a narrow victory at Maracana, as the Brazilians suffered a home loss to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the first time in 33 years. As discussions and debates surrounding this historic encounter still persist, one of Messi’s teammates has sprinkled salt on their arch-rival’s wounds.

Additionally, another highlight of the game was the violent altercation that saw the Brazilian police beat the Argentinian fans.

Brazil has found itself in the negative limelight since their 1-0 loss against Argentina. Tensions are already high among the two leading South American nations due to a lot of drama that unfolded both on and off the pitch. Amidst such strenuous moments, Lionel Messi’s national teammate, Nicolas Tagliafico, has taken a cheeky swipe at Brazil.

A viral clip has surfaced on the internet where Tagliafico made a huge claim on his Twitch stream. He said, “Every two years I go to the Maracanã to water the plants and I come back.” After saying this, he cheekily takes a sip from his Mate (drink). Tagliafico mentioning two years is a reference to the 2019 Copa America that La Albiceleste won by defeating the mighty Brazil at the very same stadium.

Coincidentally, even the scoreline was the same as the recent clash. Angel Di Maria’s only goal helped Lionel Messi break his international trophy jinx. Now, two years later, Argentina has again dominated the five-time World Cup winners. Be that as it may, it is quite an eyebrow-raising claim from Lyon’s left-back, which certainly won’t settle well in the ears of the Brazilian team and fans.

Meanwhile, Argentina also managed to etch their name in the annals of soccer by clinching a 33-year-old feat. Let’s dive deeper.
