Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne was absolutely livid with manager Pep Guardiola against Liverpool. The Belgian was seen fuming with Guardiola, who substituted him off for Mateo Kovacic. The two were seen exchanging words as Guardiola was seen talking to his player in the stands. Pep spoke of Kevin De Bruyne’s reaction following the game, claiming that he was pleased with the midfielder’s reaction.

The Spaniard stated he was happy with Kevin’s reaction as it confirms that he has the drive to contribute more. Guardiola claimed, “I liked it. Now he’s happy. I like it that he’s upset.” Guardiola then added that bringing in Mateo Kovacic made more sense tactically as Liverpool was dominating the game and he needed a player who could control the pace of the game in the midfield.

Guardiola also praised Kovacic for his performance, as the Croatian did well with the minutes he got. The midfielder provided Manchester City with the much-needed stability in the midfield, allowing them to hold Liverpool down to a draw.

Manchester City meanwhile will be disappointed with the result as the team had the chance to go to the top of the standings with a win over Liverpool. A draw against the Reds has seen them slip to third place in the standings with 63 points to their name, while Arsenal now holds the top spot with 64 points.

The two iconic managers were head-to-head for one last time in the Premier League and their rivalry had somewhat of a fitting end, with no manager able to get the better of their rival. Both Klopp and Guardiola addressed the result during the post-match interaction with Sky Sports, claiming they were pleased with the result and their respective team’s performances.

However, both the managers did not shy away from admitting that their teams were outclassed during a half each and would have preferred to walk away with a win at the sound of the final whistle. With City and Liverpool forced to share points, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has found itself in an advantageous position with the Gunners now on top of the standings with a better goal difference in comparison to Liverpool.
