Inter Miami solidified its position at the summit of the table with a triumph over Nashville. Lionel Messi spearheaded a 3-1 victory through his remarkable brace, with Sergio Busquets also opening his account for the Herons. With attention now turning swiftly to their upcoming match against the New England Revolution, concerns arise regarding injury updates. In a significant setback, Luis Suarez may be sidelined for the next fixture, while there is a huge update on Jordi Alba and Diego Gomez.

Speaking for Messi’s partner in crime, as reported by @InterMiamiZone on X, the match against the New England Revolution is on the synthetic pitch. This has forced Suarez to remain out of the clash as during his time in Brazil with Gremio, the Uruguayan international did not want to play on the pitches of São José, Palmeiras, and Athletico due to the grass. The artificial grasses are apparently quite injury-prone for players. Hence, we might expect Suarez to take a rest against New England.

Meanwhile, Miami Herald writer Michelle Kaufman gave a concerning update regarding Jordi Alba. While the former Barcelona left-back is eager to make a return as soon as possible, he still remains sidelined for a period of 3–4 weeks. This would put his return around mid-May, playing either against Montreal (May 12) or Orlando City (May 16). As if this wasn’t concerning enough, wait till you hear about Diego Gomez.

Yesterday, the young player was stretchered off the field due to a severe injury. According to journalist Roberto Rojas, Osvaldo Insfrán, the Paraguayan team’s doctor, disclosed that Gomez has sustained a grade 3 ankle injury. Tests are underway to confirm possible bone displacement, with the midfielder expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. This would keep him out alongside Alba and other Miami stars.

Which other Inter Miami stars are currently in the recuperation room?

Other players, such as defender Serhiy Kryvtsov and midfielders Leonardo Campana and Robert Taylor, are currently recuperating from hamstring injuries. In addition, defenders Facundo Farias and Ian Fray, along with recent acquisition Federico Redondo and forward Robbie Robinson, are sidelined as they recover from long-term knee injuries.

Except for Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba will continue to remain in the medical room to nurse his hamstring blow, with Diego Gomez becoming the latest to join Inter Miami’s injury list with his injured ankle. This certainly poses a major challenge for Tata Martino’s side, who are already trying to balance on the rope to stay atop the MLS table.

It remains to be seen how Lionel Messi and Co. are able to extend Inter Miami’s winning streak in the absence of such injured players.
