It was another great opportunity that went begging for Manchester United after their 3-1 loss to Manchester City. Marcus Rashford will be the center of attention for United, as the player, despite scoring a stunning goal, missed out on easy ones that can be assumed to be expensive. After all the mistakes, Erik ten Hag’s side were put to shame by the Premier League champions, putting on a terrific display of control and power.

United, on the other hand, would kick themselves for both missing opportunities and giving them to the opposition. This has left former club legend Roy Keane devastated, in contrast to the coach’s claim that they played well. Roy Keane sided with the other side of Manchester, referring to them as ‘men’ against United.

Speaking about Manchester United’s form this season and their poor performance in the game, he said, “Eleven league games they’ve lost. It’s a scary stat. It was men vs. boys at the end. They were just hanging in there, making mistakes. It could have been four or five.” But this was not the case according to ten Hag.

Ten Hag, however, was not disappointed with their performance on the pitch. He said, “I think it was a good performance overall,” backing his boys.

It was a day of slips for the 13-time PL winners. Despite being set up in rather astutely, a rarity this season for them, Manchester United’s lack of composure lost the game for Erik ten Hag. Opportunities knocked loudly for the visitors, starting with Rashford’s first missed chance that came from Bruno Fernandes’ cross in the box in front of the goal. An easy chance slipped, and Rashford again received the ball in the attacking area twice, but despite being ahead of Kyle Walker, the winger’s clumsiness led to Walker recovering the ball.

That was not it. Even United’s defense had to succumb to the pressure exerted by Pep Guardiola’s side. It was an unwanted giveaway by the red jerseys, as Haaland gladly accepted an inelegant giveaway by Sofian Amrabat in the stoppage time hammering the last nail in the coffin for the guests.

Ultimately, with this loss being their eleventh in the league, United stays eleven points behind Aston Villa. Consequently, their spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League could turn into a distant dream.
