The recently concluded Qatar FIFA World Cup saw many soccer stars get known to the world through their performances. However, one such player from Cameroon, Bryan Mbeumo, became famous when one social media user compared him to NBA great LeBron James. 

The fan posted the pic of Mbeumo and King James, showing the similarities between the athletes due to their identical beards. James was quick to respond to the similarities by posting it on his Instagram story, which attracted millions of viewers. The LA Lakers star helped the world know Mbeumo, who hit the James celebration after scoring against the NBA star’s soccer team.

Mbeumo hits LeBron James’ celebration after scoring against Liverpool

 King James is an ardent Liverpool fan and owns minority stakes in the Premier League giants with FSG. He bought 2% of stakes for $6.5m in 2011 with his partner Maverick Carter. It helped James to earn profits, and he exchanged the stakes for part-ownership for undisclosed fees. 

Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo, labeled as James’ doppelgänger, did rub salt in the wounds of Liverpool and James on Monday night. Liverpool took on 11th-placed Brentford in the Premier League game on Monday night and lost 3-1. Mbeumo scored the third goal for the Bees and did a signatory ‘Silencer’ celebration of King James after scoring.

The celebrations by the Brentford forward didn’t go down well with the Liverpool fans. It was like taking a dig at James. Mbeumo went viral when King James reposted the social media post showing similarities between the two, commenting, “I mean, I got work to do in other places too!”

The loss to Brentford came as a shock for Liverpool and its fans. Liverpool sits sixth on the table with 28 points, with Brentford moving to seventh, two points behind Liverpool. It means the Merseyside club is now almost out of the title race, as they are 15 points behind the league leaders Arsenal who have a game in hand.
