Lionel Messi is one of the most calm and composed players in soccer. The Argentinian superstar’s ability to maintain his cool, even in the most challenging situations, has become a defining trait. But there are instances where even La Pulga’s dark side comes out. In fact, it came to the extent that he once kicked an Atletico Madrid star.

Unfortunately, there are situations where Messi can’t control his emotions, as, after all, he is a human. What instigated him to even make this drastic gesture against the rival player?

Former Brazilian international and Atletico Madrid left-back Felipe Luis has made a bombshell revelation regarding Messi’s anger. The disclosure came on the latest episode of the ‘Charla Podcast’, where Luis narrated the anecdote of how he was assigned the task of defending Messi. He said, “I had a game in the Spanish Super Cup that was my best game against him [Messi]. I killed him. At the end of the game, he lost his mind and kicked me.”

Luis then narrated that he was sent off in the very same game after he made a foul against Dani Alves and both the right-back and Messi fought with him. Additionally, he revealed how he again successfully managed to stop Messi. “There was a Champions League match in which we eliminated Barcelona at home. The whole game too, so I usually played some great games against him. Atlético was a very closed team, it was very difficult for him to play,” he concluded.

Indeed, it is quite an eyebrow-raising revelation from the Flamengo star about Messi. Notably, Luis’ former Atletico manager, Diego Simeone, was once left clueless about how to stop Messi.

La Pulga left Diego Simeone clueless!

Former Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier shed light on a particular instance where even his manager, Diego Simeone, didn’t know how to stop Messi. When asked about his plan to stop Messi, he said, “You can’t, to be fair and it’s funny because obviously, [Diego] Simeone was the manager. Both Argentinian and even he was just saying before the meetings just basically like ‘pray!’ Yeah, he’s just…you just can’t do anything.”

Trippier added that Messi is so unique that one can’t make plans beforehand to stop him. He also emphasized that anything can happen when Messi is on the pitch.
