Argentina sent the soccer fraternity into a frenzy by winning the FIFA World Cup last year. After a dramatic final against the 2018 Champions France, Lionel Messi and his teammates brought the Golden Trophy back to their homeland after an exile of 36 years. While it has almost been a year since La Albliceleste’s 2022 feat, reports suggest the World Cup-winning team is yet to receive the prize from the soccer federation of Argentina.

Meanwhile, in other shocking news, reports of Lionel Scaloni leaving the Argentinian team continue to spread like wildfire.

After Argentina won the dramatic FIFA final against France, they were crowned the World Champions. The South American side’s efforts were duly recognized as they were presented with the prestigious trophy. Aside from this, Lionel Messi and his teammates were also given medals for their individual performances.

Additionally, the team that wins the World Cup is also eligible to receive financial incentives. The winner is guaranteed a prize of $42 million. While one would assume all the cash would have been distributed among the whole team by now, that isn’t the case at all. Apparently, reports suggest that the coaching staff of the Argentina National Team has yet to receive the World Cup prize from the Argentina Football Association (AFA).

Despite nearly 12 months, Lionel Scaloni and all his staff at the national camp haven’t been financially rewarded for their job. Notably, the reason for such a delay hasn’t been stated. Yet, it is quite an eyebrow-raising revelation. Perhaps this might be one of the reasons that justifies Lionel Scaloni’s desire to leave La Albiceleste.

The national coach of Lionel Messi is set to leave Argentina

Following Argentina’s victory over Brazil yesterday, Lionel Scaloni shared extensive comments about his future. The 45-year-old hinted at the possibility of taking a break from his managerial role. He said, “I have to think a lot about what to do with my future. It’s not a goodbye or anything else, but the bar is very high and it’s complicated to continue. This national team needs a coach who has all the possible energy and who is well,” he said.

Further reports indicated that a clash of opinions between Scaloni and Argentina FA’s president, Chiqui Tapia, prompted the coach to contemplate his future. Be that as it may, his exit will mark a huge loss for Argentina.
