Inter Miami is taking the 2024 campaign very seriously. David Beckham’s soccer franchise continues to make strides by making preparations for the new season. Amidst preparations and the process of selecting new additions to their roster, captain Lionel Messi and manager Tata Martino are reportedly spearheading efforts to entice a former Manchester United star to join the ranks of Inter Miami

Just days ago, Miami added promising firepower to their attack in the form of Luis Suarez, who reunited with his fellow Barcelona teammates. But it seems the Herons are keen on reuniting one of Messi’s former national teammates.

According to renowned journalist Hernan Castillo, Lionel Messi and Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino have reportedly reached out to Marcos Rojo in an attempt to lure him to Inter Miami. The 33-year-old is currently playing for Argentinian side Boca Juniors after he left Manchester United in 2021. However, the outcome remains uncertain, especially with Palmeiras also expressing interest in the player, as per Radio Continental AM 590. Notably, Rojo’s contract is set to expire on December 31, 2025.

Hence, either of the interested parties would need to agree on a certain fee for his arrival. Surprisingly, Rojo has not made a single appearance in the Argentine Primera División. But he has played 16 games in the Copa Argentina and Copa Libertadores and even scored a goal in the Copa de la Liga. Subsequently, Boca Juniors might sanction his departure. Either way, he will be a great addition to Miami’s defensive ranks, who are in dire need of reinforcements at the back. Remarkably, Rojo isn’t the only former Argentinian player that Miami is hoping to reunite with Messi.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
