After the Champions League knockout stage draw paired Manchester City with Inter Milan, it feels like their Premier League title hopes are in jeopardy. The Belgium master Kevin De Bruyne had a quite big chance from just outside the box towards the end of that half, and minutes later he was in an awkward collision with Inter’s Yann Sommer and Hakan Calhanoglu. Initially, it seemed innocent enough, but the team immediately withdrew De Bruyne from the action to assess him.

After briefly coming back to the field, the midfielder played the dying embers of the first half before the halftime substitution replaced him with Ilkay Gündogan.

However, there’s a glimmer of good news for City fans. According to City Xtra’s latest Instagram post, Kevin De Bruyne is back in training with the squad. His speedy recovery could provide Guardiola with a much-needed boost ahead of the trip to Arsenal after initially appearing unable to feature.

Guardiola had offered some hope that his star player would be available for the top-of-the-table clash. Speaking to the media on Friday, the former Barcelona coach revealed: “He feels a little better today… Tomorrow we train, and we will see. He could be [involved].

However, it appears that City was unwilling to take the chance of escalating the situation against Mikel Arteta’s side.

“We came very, very close” Former Chelsea director claims Blues almost signed Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero

Former Chelsea director Michael Emenalo recently revealed a blockbuster “what if” scenario that could have rewritten Premier League history—Chelsea was incredibly close to signing Manchester City legend, Sergio Aguero. The Argentine striker, who spent a decade at the Etihad and became a club icon with 260 goals in 390 appearances, was nearly wearing blue, but not the sky blue of Manchester.

Back when Aguero was tearing it up for Atletico Madrid, Chelsea had their eyes set on him, eager to usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge under Carlo Ancelotti. The plan? Pair Aguero with club legend Didier Drogba and gradually transition the Ivorian forward out, as Emenalo shared during his appearance on the Obi-Wan Podcast.

We came very, very close,” Emenalo said. “He was 20, and the idea was to have him alongside Didier Drogba and phase Didier out gradually because we knew he’d be going until he was 35.

Imagine that—a young Aguero learning alongside Drogba, eventually becoming the future face of Chelsea’s attack. However, the deal fell through, and instead, Manchester City swooped in, signing Aguero in 2011. The rest, as they say, is history—most notably, Aguero’s iconic last-minute goal that clinched City’s first Premier League title in 2012.

Didier Drogba, meanwhile, left Chelsea in 2012 before making a brief but emotional return in 2014. With 164 goals and 88 assists from 381 games, Drogba left his mark as a club legend. Still, Chelsea fans can’t help but wonder what might have been had Aguero joined forces with Drogba during those pivotal years. Would the dynamic between the two have transformed Chelsea’s fortunes even more? The thought alone is enough to spark endless debate among fans.
