The Netherlands beat USMNT in the first game of the round of 16, knocking them out of the competition. And they received praise from all over the world for their display against USMNT. However, one such tweet where Memphis Depay shared the text messages between him and Steve Harvey raised the eyebrows of many.

Memphis Depay once dated Lori Harvey, the youngest daughter of Steve Harvey. Although they broke up back in 2018, Mr. Harvey still praised Depay for his performance in the match against USMNT.

Memphis Depay got a message from Steve Harvey after the game

Memphis Depay today shared a screenshot on Twitter of the messages exchanged between him and Harvey. The caption read, “Real Always Recognize Real”. Steve Harvey was proud of the performance of the player and congratulated him. Harvey also wished success to the player and wanted them to go all the way to glory.

Memphis Depay opened the scoring in the 10th minute from Denzel Dumfries’s cutback. Daley Blind and Dumfries added two more and the Dutch team won the match by a 3-1 scoreline. USMNT, despite dominating the game many times, was knocked out, as they didn’t take their chances.

Memphis Depay was in a relationship with the youngest daughter of Steve Harvey. After a year of the relationship, they got engaged in 2017. Steve Harvey himself announced the news on social media and was proud of it.
