The 2022 Golden Boy Gavi is arguably one of the finest talents the famous La Masia academy produced in recent years. Standing at 5’8″, he made two tackles with his head to win the ball for his club. Fans reacted to this skillful midfielder’s prowess on the pitch.

During one phase of player, Athletic Bilbao midfielder Dani Garcia attempted a forward pass. Wanting to snatch the ball away, the pocket-size midfielder flew onto the pitch and blocked it with his head. The opposition player’s foot grazed his head while the 18-year-old phenomenon hustled to get the football. Therefore, fans could not believe the commitment showcased by the midfielder. The game against Athletic Bilbao saw Barca take home the three points with a 1-0 victory. 

Another fan stated how fans should applaud Gavi for his desire to give it all to the team. The fan commented, “Taking “Giving your life for the team” to a whole new level.” Usually, fans witness defenders putting their heads on the line. Former England soccer player John Terry and Phil Jones were two leading examples fans could point out. But for a young midfielder to enjoy putting his body on the line is unheard of!

Focusing on the soccer side of things, another fan stated how he should be calmer in using his body. The fan said, “He’s a “give it your all” type of player, and sometimes too much. Even some of his body challenges are dangerous, and sometimes commits fouls with reckless lunges. He needs to learn to be calmer.”

However, the youngster’s recklessness was cause for concern for the soccer community.

Many fans pointed out the dangers related to this style of play. A fan stated, “I love the effort but this is too dangerous.” One serious injury that a player could suffer is a concussion or probably a skull fracture. Being hit with force generated to smash the ball won’t be a sight to behold if he gets his head in front of it. Beyond those potentially laden years, Gavi’s health should be a cause of concern.
