No soccer league in the world could be as proud as the NWSL, regarding their representation at the Olympics. A whopping 56 NWSL stars participated in the Paris Summer Games. The gold medalists, the USWNT, had 15 NWSL stars in their 18-player roster. Team USA’s big front three- Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, and Mallory Swanson did the NWSL proud by scoring 10 goals in the Olympic tournament. And the NWSL aims to honor them by laying out a path to global superstardom.
NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman was one of the happiest people to see Emma Hayes and Co. book a berth in the Olympic final. Speaking about the gold medal game during a CNBC Television interview, Berman gave shout-outs to the USWNT forward trio. “Sophia Smith, Mal Swanson, and Trinity Rodman call themselves triple espresso. They’re the next generation of talent. Everyone’s super excited to watch them,” said Jessica Berman.
Thereafter, the NWSL chief detailed how the league will assist the US trio in the future.

“It is our job to make sure we have the professionalized environment to really ingest their stardom and their greatness. And make sure we’re there to support them with a professionalized training environment and 20,000 fans per game. And really give them a chance to continue to thrive and grow and develop to be the best in the world,” Berman added.
Interestingly, the NWSL has embarked on a journey to make the league more attractive for its players, just when Jessica Berman assured the US trio to provide the best conditions.

While Team USA laced up to chase the Olympic gold in Paris, the NWSL and its players’ union agreed to a new CBA. The novel agreement reportedly runs through 2030. The new CBA has higher compensation for players and player movement as its main agendas. Earning a $2.5 million paycheck, USWNT superstar Sophia Smith is already the NWSL’s highest earner.
Seems like the Portland Thorns will soon be open to paying the Olympic gold medalist more in the coming days.

It seems like 20K would soon be an old average, as many games have been averaging more than 30,000 easily. Besides, the current CBA also saw clubs such as Angel City and the San Diego Wave tremendously grow their valuations. Not to mention, the NWSL’s record-breaking broadcast deal kicked in before the start of the current season.
Therefore, another CBA means, the NWSL and Bergman could easily deliver on their promises to give the best platform for Rodman, Smith, Swanson, and other young bloods.
